It was revealed yesterday by the Western Bulldogs that they had indefinitely suspended forward Tom Boyd and defender Zaine Cordy after an alcohol fuelled altercation.
In the statement, the club did not reveal the details of the incident between the two best friends, however Seven News in Melbourne is reporting that Boyd lashed out at Cordy after being reminded of his lack of playing time in the senior and failing to have an impact despite his hefty pay packet.
Cordy was taken to hospital, requiring three stitches to his face.
Channel Seven reporter Michael Scanlan says, "It's believed teammates had been mocking Boyd for his poor performance and inflated salary.
"The pressure built up, and he snapped"
Boyd and Cordy have both been suspended indefinitely and fined the maximum $5000 for the altercation.
